REPORTS TO: Chief Financial Officer
PURPOSE: Responsible for ensuring the Company has accurate and reliable financial and accounting systems to manage the business and accommodate the continued growth of the Company.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Ensure the Company’s internal controls are properly safeguarding the assets of the Company and ensure the integrity of reported results. Establish or recommend to management essential accounting procedures or directives for the company and recommend modifications to existing corporate programs.
  • Support the preparation of reports, which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and expected operations.
  • Oversee the overall functions of Accounting, Accounts Payable and Payroll.
  • Manage the organizations accounting principles, practices, and procedures for the maintenance of its fiscal records and timely preparation of its financial reports for management, auditor and audit committee review.
  • Coordinate the timely preparation of income tax information with the Company’s outside advisors.
  • Management responsibility of the Company’s accounting functions, including internal audit, financial statement reconciliation, general ledger, property accounting, budgetary accounting, and treasury.
  • Appraises operating results in terms of costs, budgets and operating policies, trends and increased profit opportunities.
  • Will work with CFO to establish effective systems for tracking financial performance on a real time basis, GAAP accounting compliance and their relationship to overall operations of the business.
  • Maintains professional employee performance standards through proper orientation, training, and counseling.
  • Perpetuates fair and equitable employee relations, resolves employee grievances and administers discipline according to established personnel policies. Conducts special and annual employee performance appraisals.
  • Safeguards the confidentiality of company financial information.
  • Will manage multiple projects.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A BS/BA degree in Accounting/Finance or related field is required; a CPA, MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of accounting, systems or finance experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of successful finance and operations systems and strategies to assure tight controls, sound financial reporting, business planning and forecasting. Must be strong in cost accounting, expense management and financial analysis with a good understanding of cost accounting in a food or manufacturing environment.
  • Deal effectively with the details involved with a middle market company yet still have the “big picture” focus associated with the company’s growth.
  • Experience working in companies with multi-site operations on a nationwide basis is preferred.
  • Must be fully comfortable with, and expert in, all aspects of finance including treasury, internal controls, accounting, cash management, corporate development, and accounting-related systems.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented; able to set own agenda within wide parameters and posses excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong and supportive team player who can serve as a strong business partner to the CFO and also able to partner across functional boundaries.
