POSITION OPENING: Senior Food Scientist - Exempt
REPORTS TO: Sr. Director of Research & Development
JOB DUTIES:

• Independently and with Marketing creates, develops, and evaluates new products.

• Improves existing processes and products with lower cost ingredients and formulas.

• Independently and with Engineering designs, implements and supervises new parameters and processes for new products.

• Works independently with co manufacturers in the development of new products and processes.

• Updates knowledge and developing technologies through professional seminars, conferences, literature, and research.

• Monitors evaluation of ingredients through laboratory tests and plant trials for new and existing products.

• Provides technical support to Manufacturing to monitor and/or direct new and/or existing products and processes.

• Develops process documents, data sheets, formulas and standards in the form of critical control points for the new manufacturing processes.

• Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS in Chemistry, Food Science, or Food Technology.

• Prefer experience in the confections industry (soft candy).

• Prefer experience working with chocolate.

• Ability to travel domestically and internationally 25% of the time.

• Confectionary Technology experience preferred.

• Experience in Third Party Auditing.

• Fluency in Spanish is a plus.

• Effective organizational and planning skills.

• Good interpersonal and people management skills.

• Proficient in computer usage.
